About Us VFIS is a centre for teaching, training, research and therapy in Logotherapy and Existential Analysis
The Viktor Frank Institute of Sydney was founded by Dr Reza Pishyar, PhD in 2014. Our mission is to acquaint the public with the philosophical (theoretical) and psychological (therapeutic) concepts of Dr. Viktor E. Frankl, MD., Ph.D (1905-1997), the world-renowned Austrian psychiatrist and neurologist, Holocaust survivor, founder of Logotherapy, and author of the bestselling, inspirational book Man's Search for Meaning, amongst others. The Viktor Frank Institute of Sydney provides courses as well as formal training programmers and professional consultation services. We also provided individual and couple counseling and psychological interventions.
Reza Pishyar, Ph.D., was born in Iran and lives in Sydney, Australia. He completed his Bachelors in Child Psychology in Iran (Shahid Beheshti University), Masters in Applied Psychology (combined health and clinical) at University of Newcastle Australia, 1998 and Ph.D, in Clinical Psychology at Sydney University, 2005. He earned his Diplomate Clinician in Logotherapy, Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy Abilene, Dallas, in 2011. He currently is a member of the Board of Lectureship, Viktor Frankl Institute–Vienna and a member of the Faculty of The Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy–USA. He is Director at Viktor Frankl Institute of Sydney, a center for teaching, training, research and clinical practicing logotherapy and existential analysis; and he lectured and tutored at Sydney University and was guest lecturer at the Australian College of Applied Psychology. He is in private practice as a Clinical Psychologist and Logotherapist for almost 17 years. He has published journal articles, book chapters, and has presented at international conferences (list available from Dr. Pishyar C.V.).
We are dedicated to promoting the work of Viktor Frankl, in affiliation with the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy in Dallas, Texas USA and the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis in Vienna, Austria.
